Voor de echte Gaudí-fans bracht Apple onlangs een speciale app voor iPhone op de markt: het Barcelona van Gaudí. De app beschikt over een kaart met zijn werken in de Catalaanse hoofdstad en telt elf hoofdstukken, die stuk voor stuk zijn gewijd aan een van zijn bouwwerken in de stad. Per hoofdstuk vind je uitleg en achtergrondinformatie, maar ook openingstijdens en toegangsprijzen. De app kost 2,99 euro.

I wrote the app because other ones are not what I consider good.
Let me tell you why it is good. It describes how to use the Barcelona Metro system in a detailed way. If you live in an urban area where there is a public transport system you may find the description to be too elaborate but there are many people who visit places like Barcelona who need this kind of information.
The application costs 3 euros. There is information in the description of visiting the Sagrada Familia that will save you more time than 3 euros worth. That is, you can buy a ticket at an ATM machine and not wait in the line that drapes around the block.
There are also descriptions of what to do and where to go when you arrive at the various Metro stops. This cuts out a lot of confusion that many people have trying to read maps. I could go on but I’ll end by saying it really is a very worthwhile application.
